Organic Farming

To discover or learn even more about Organic Farming, Biofinesse takes you on a complete tour.

Organic Farming is defined -by regulation- as a mode of production that does not use synthetic chemicals.

Above all, it rests on a GLOBAL CONCEPT supported by a choice of values as :

  • Health
  • Respecting the environment
  • Authenticity
  • Animal well-being
  • Social life

In order to respect the ground and biological cycles, Organic Farming commits to a production of healthy quality by using methods that are natural, authentic and modern while dealing with grounds’ fertilization, cultures’ protection, breeding, elaboration of authentic products.

Throughout organic production, producers, transformers and distributors favour recycling procedures -when possible, non-polluting energies and products, so as to provide the consumer with the healthy food that he needs.

Organic Farming is defined by the law of the 1st July 1980 as an agriculture that doesn’t use synthetic chemicals (fertilizers or pesticides).

Its aims at respecting the environment and natural equilibrium, at protecting the consumer with a production free of chemical agents.

Without forgetting notions of profitability or viability of their farms, agrobiologists apply specific methods and techniques of cultivation. They do not allow themselves to use synthetic chemicals. They aim at a sustainable fertility of grounds : they use crop rotation , (succession of different crops in the same plot), they spread natural manures or compost.

To fight against parasites and weeds, they practise biology or physics (mechanical or thermal weeding).

Organic farmers essentially feed their animals with organic food (from 90 to 100 % according to their species). They make sure of their well-being in breeding buildings and their access to the open air. Alternative therapies as homeopathy and aromatherapy are frequently used.

Organic farmers are concerned with the protection of the environment. Their methods of agriculture respect natural cycles and guarantee the sustainable aspect of their farming. They look for a diversity of production -vegetal or animal- and try and use rare varieties and methods.

The development and growth of crops rhymes with seasons’ natural cycles with a goal of quality and without exclusive focus on productivity.

To prevent the deterioration of arable grounds, farmers use extensive crop rotation, and avoid using chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Some chemical pollutions are extremely difficult to eliminate: organic farming avoid subterranenan and surface waters to be contaminated. Organic Farming respects landscapes . Organic products respect the nature they come from and their producers, whatever their country of origin and as long as they are certified by an approved independant organism.

Organic Farming contributes to a healthy nutrition and the preservation of the environment.
